In the glass, the Crognolo Toscana from Tenuta Sette Ponti presents a dense ruby red colour. If you give it some air by swirling, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which shows in clear church windows at the edge of the glass. The first nose of the Crognolo Toscana reveals nuances of blackcurrants, blueberries and plums. The fruity components of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel aging such as even more fruity-balsamic nuances.

The Tenuta Sette Ponti Crognolo Toscana inspires by its elegantly dry taste picture. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine in this price range, this Italian naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Taste does not necessarily need a lot of residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully dense. Due to the balanced fruit acid, the Crognolo Toscana flatters the palate with a velvety feeling without lacking freshness. In the finish, this youthful wine from the Tuscany wine-growing region finally inspires with considerable length. Again, hints of plum and morello cherry appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by sand and limestone join in.

The basis for the powerful Crognolo Toscana from Tuscany are grapes from the grape variety Sangiovese. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Tuscany. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of sand and limestone. Obviously, the Crognolo Toscana is also determined by the climate and viticultural style of Tuscany. This Italian can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, and it is extraordinarily impressive. The ripeness of the grapes for this wine from Sangiovese is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In Tuscany, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well ripened grapes and a rather high must weight. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Crognolo Toscana is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. The barrel aging is followed by extensive bottle aging, which makes this red wine even more complex.
