A lighter, sweeter take on The Kraken. Ripe banana, toasted coconut and caramel on the nose; vanilla and caramel on the palate with the spice dialled well back and a short, soft finish. The difference from the Black: Kraken Black is 47% and dark, bold and molasses-driven with assertive allspice, ginger and clove — the Gold is 35%, paler, sweeter and smoother with much less spice. It won’t take over a drink. Good for anyone who finds the Black too heavy, and for lighter mixing with cola, ginger ale, piña coladas or daiquiri-style drinks.
