Luigi Righetti is a Veneto producer best known in Valpolicella for its Amarone and this Ripasso. Campolieti is made the traditional way — the finished Valpolicella is re-passed over the drained Amarone skins in January and February, picking up extra body, colour and depth. Roughly 70% Corvina with Rondinella and other indigenous varieties, it shows black cherry on the nose with a raisined, dried-fruit complexity, a round mouthfeel and a gentle bitter twist on the finish. Good with steak, pork roasts, hearty pasta, mushroom risotto and aged hard cheeses.
