Little Farm Winery Pied de Cuve Chardonnay 2022

750 mL | Alcohol/Vol: 13.5%

Organic estate fruit from the Mulberry Tree Vineyard in Cawston, Similkameen Valley. Wild-fermented in neutral barrels using a pied de cuve starter — yeast taken off the grape skins rather than bought in — and aged about nine months on the lees. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with only a small sulfur dose at bottling.

Intense and complex on the nose: lemon, salty minerality, subtle bready lees, nectarine and toasted nuts. The palate runs peach, nectarine and preserved lemon through to a long, mineral finish. Dry, textured, no new oak.

A Chardonnay for people who don't like Chardonnay. Roast chicken, grilled fish, soft cheeses, mushroom dishes.
