Gaja Rossj Bass Chardonnay
750 ml | Alcohol/Vol: 13.5%
This Chardonnay from Angelo Gaja comes from the vineyards of Piemonte, which were planted in 1984. The name is made up of two elements Bass, meaning the lower part of the vineyards and Ross is the name of one of Angelo's daughters, called Rosanna. The vineyards are located in the Barolo area, near Serralunga. After the manual harvest of the grapes, the first fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, then the further maturation takes place in oak barriques. The wine is ready to drink now, but can continue to mature for another 10 years in the cellars.
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks and takes four weeks. The wine is then transferred to new and used 225 liter oak barrels where it is aged for 6 months. Malolactic or lactic acid fermentation also takes place during this period. Well perfumed wine with scents of citrus fruit, honey and flowers. With sufficient tension, the right acid balance and fresh-sparkling aftertaste, this wine can easily be counted among the most elegant in the world. The taste is full, complex, creamy, slightly spicy, with an excellent long aftertaste. For those who have a lot of patience: 3-5 years of bottle aging is recommended.
