Guerrieri Rizzardi is a historic Veneto family estate now in its thirteenth generation, with vineyards across Valpolicella, Bardolino and Soave. Cuvée XVII is the fresh, unoaked style of Valpolicella — fermented in stainless steel and matured in steel and concrete with no oak contact, which keeps the fruit clean and bright. Corvinone and Corvina make up the bulk of the blend, with Rondinella, Merlot and Croatina. Medium-bodied and very drinkable: marasca cherry and red plum, a lift of black pepper and violet, fresh acidity, smooth tannins. Serve with duck or tomato ragù pasta, roast chicken, veal, salami or mushroom risotto.
