Founded in 1858 by King Vittorio Emanuele II in the heart of Piedmont, Fontanafredda is one of Barolo’s most historic and influential estates. Located in Serralunga d’Alba, the winery has played a significant role in establishing Barolo’s international reputation, combining traditional winemaking with a deep respect for the region’s unique terroir. Today, Fontanafredda is recognized for producing elegant, authentic Barolo that reflects the character of Langhe’s famed vineyards.

Complex and expressive, this Barolo opens with aromas of rose petal, red cherry, raspberry, and dried cranberry, layered with notes of licorice, tobacco, forest floor, and sweet spice. Full-bodied with firm yet refined tannins and vibrant acidity, the palate offers remarkable structure and depth while maintaining elegance and balance. The finish is long, savoury, and beautifully persistent.

A classic expression of Nebbiolo, perfect alongside braised beef, osso buco, wild game, truffle dishes, mushroom risotto, or aged cheeses. While approachable with decanting, it also rewards additional cellaring.
