Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2019

750 ml | Alcohol/Vol: 13.4%

The domain was founded by the father of Lucien Michel, Marcel Michel, who did the first bottling at his domain in 1966. Since 1979 Marie José and Lucien Michel have run the property.
The next generation Claire Fabre has since 2008 had the responsability for the winemaking. She is married to another winegrower Adrien Fabre Domaine la Florane in Visan.
In 2013 Claire's brother François joined her at the domain, and the two of them became officially responsible for the property together with their mother Marie Michel.
The domain covers 15 ha of Chateauneuf du Pape, one of them with white varieties.
The vinification process is in the best sence of the word traditional. Only one cuvée of red and of white Chateauneuf du Pape is made. The grapes for the reds have for a great part since 1991 been destemmed.
The cellar of the domain is situated by the route from Chateauneuf du Pape to Courthezon. In 2011 an office and reception were built by the cellar. Since then you can buy the wines here if anyone is present. The bottling and the storing of the wines takes place at Prestige et Tradition south of the village owned by several domains together.
Lucien and Marcel Michel still live at 9, Avenue Saint Joseph, the former centre of the domain, when Claire and her husband live in another house in Chateauneuf du Pape.
