Our favourite of the village level Chablis wines produced by esteemed cooperative La Chablisienne is La Pierrelée. Produced from grapes across the Chablis appellation, grown mostly on the region's infamous Kimmeridgian soils, this classy white wine offers the essence of this beautiful region in a well-priced bottle. With a pale golden hue, La Pierrelée offers lightly spiced orchard fruits with a citrus undertone and that iconic mineral flourish - all in your first sniff. Seductively enticing on the nose, it brings a palate that's equally just as generous, offering up white flowers, juicy green apple, a warming spicy note and delicate savoury fleck - all combining for a delicious sip. It’s mouth-filling but never overpowering, with elegant acidity partnering perfectly with the strong fruity core and chalky, mineral finish. This is the perfect wine to accompany white fish dishes, and any shellfish. A particularly good pairing would be seafood linguine or grilled calamari.
