Casisano Rosso di Montalcino
750 ml | Alcohol/Vol:
Podere Casisano sits on a natural terrace 480 meters above sea level in the heart of Montalcino, overlooking the Abbey of Sant'Antimo, midway between Sant'Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell'Abate. This red-fruited, traditional Sangiovese is a classic expression of Sangiovese Grosso, the same clone used to make Brunello di Montalcino, grown on stony, galestro-rich soils. Following traditional winemaking under the Tommasi family, the grapes macerate for 15 days before aging in Slavonian oak casks. Deep ruby red but nicely transparent, it offers a complex bouquet reminiscent of violets, plums, and red berry fruits, with delicate spicy hints. Lively and elegant, with a round medium body and soft, velvety tannins, finishing fresh and persistent — Brunello's more approachable, everyday-friendly sibling.
