Barco del Corneta Tres Navíos Clarete

Clarete is a traditional Castilian style in which red and white grapes are grown together, picked together and fermented together — deeper and more structured than a modern rosé, lighter than a red. Here roughly 60% old-vine Tempranillo is co-pressed with field-blend white varieties, fermented spontaneously in large oak foudres and aged six months on the lees. The result is a pale red rather than a pink wine: floral and herb-scented, with firm acidity and a saline, savoury finish. Barco del Corneta is Beatriz Herranz’s small organic estate in La Seca, working by hand with native yeasts and minimal intervention. Serve lightly chilled with charcuterie, grilled sardines, bean stews or aged cheese.
