Barco del Corneta Cucú Verdejo

Barco del Corneta is the small organic estate Beatriz Herranz founded on her family’s land in La Seca, deliberately bottling outside the Rueda DO so she can work the way she wants — hand-harvesting, native yeasts, minimal intervention. Cucú blends fruit from La Seca with higher-altitude, sandier sites in Segovia; about three-quarters is fermented in stainless steel and aged on the lees, the rest fermented and aged around four months in 300-litre French oak. That makes it an aromatic, textured Verdejo rather than a simple crisp one. Good with grilled white fish, roast chicken or goat cheese.
